It does not react with any substance except the strong base and hydrofluoric acid. Different types of silica gel have different microporous structures because of their different manufacturing methods.

The chemical composition and physical structure of silica gel determine that it has many characteristics which are difficult to be replaced by other similar materials: high adsorption properties, good thermal stability, stable chemical properties, high mechanical strength, etc.. According to the size of the pore size, silica gel is divided into large pore silica gel, coarse pore silica gel, B type silica gel, pore silica gel and transparent or milk white granular solid.

A synthetic rubber composed of alternating atoms of silicon and oxygen and having organic groups on silicon atoms. The organic groups in the molecule can be CH3, - C2H3 or C6H5, corresponding to methyl, vinyl or methyl phenyl silicone rubber. Silicone rubber is a kind of special rubber with high temperature (-60 - 250 DEG C), resistance to oxidation and good electrical insulation.
